Heart on Your Sleeve

I am poetically inclined
to take the time
and rythmically search your
mind
and try to find
some reason behind
the automatic lie,
behind your automated disguise
specifically meant to raise
the attention of certain eyes
of who otherwise,
won't take the time
to realize
you're worth his time
worth his love
worth his attention
Did I mention
he's not worth your time
worth your time
worth your love
worth your frustration
of his chasin'
of incorrect tastin's
And yet, you still
try& sigh& cry& lie
to win a characteristically outta
tune heart
that won't play the part
of unchanging, unwadeing
unwavering love,
as you still are hanging and
waiting and
unthinkably debating
changing who you are,
what you stand for
which is the symbol of beauty
and loves continuity, so faithfully
unfaltering, unadultering
to become:
love's temporary:
a plain mary
with no taste
because of the haste
you had to win the one
you beckoned, who
will expectedly
leave you in a second
without so much as a single thought
as your beautiful heart  deteriorates
and rots
and soaks into the ground
as you walk around
without a sound
emotionally unwound
without a care
with a blank stare
neither looking here or there
until you look in the mirror
and see the girl
you didn't want to be who is
painstakingly me.

  1. This one is so beautifully written. The words, teh rhythm, the rhyme. It is hard to choose, but this might be my favorite one. KCM
